Militants attacked a Russian National Guard base in the early morning of 24 March in Chechnya’s Naursky District. There are dead and wounded reported on both sides.

According to official reports, a group of unidentified armed people attacked a military checkpoint manned by the Russian National Guard between 02:00–03:00. A group of at least 6 militants, armed with automatic weapons, attempted to enter the military base.

According to official reports, all the attackers were killed during the ensuing battle, which lasted about an hour. However local media has reported that  two of the attackers managed to escaped.

According to preliminary information, six soldiers were also killed during the clash. The National Antiterrorism Committee of Russia claims to have found weapons, ammunition, and dummy suicide belts on the slain militants.

According to local law enforcement, an ‘interception plan’ is in place in the Naursky District to find and contain any surviving militants.

Measures are being taken to establish the identities of the attackers.
