Two people were injured and taken to hospital when a grenade exploded in a café in the Daghestani capital Makhachkala on 11 May.

An unknown assailant threw the grenade into the Zolotaya Turka café before disappearing.

‘Presumably, the attacker disappeared in a car. We are searching for a black Toyota Camry’, a spokesperson for Daghestan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs told OC Media.

According to the Ministry of Health, one man sustained injuries to his legs while the other was wounded in the abdomen; neither are in critical condition.

A criminal case has been launched into the attack.

On 24 April, a grenade exploded in a computer club in the village of Agvali in the Tsumadinsky District of Daghestan. One child was killed and 10 others, all below the age of 21, were injured in the explosion.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia in Daghestan, the grenade was brought to the club by a teenager, who claimed that he found it in the street. The grenade was accidentally detonated as a result of carelessness.
