Employees of one of the most popular bookshop chains in Georgia, Biblus, are complaining about harsh working conditions and poor overtime compensation.
Chechen authorities have refused to allow the burial of a man from the Chechen village of Prigorodnoye, Aslanbek Bakharchiyev, in his home village. Bakharchiyev passed away on 9 February, in Kalmykia, in south western Russia. He was expelled from his village two months ago by the Chechen authorities.
Resident of Daghestan Abdulla Apavov was sentenced to two years in prison by a Daghestani court, for posts he made on social media. The North Caucasian District Military Court found him guilty of publicly promoting terrorism and inciting hatred.
Popular blogger Aleksandr Lapshin was arrested in Belarus and extradited to Azerbaijan following his visits to the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Georgian supermarket chain Fresco was investigated by the the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia for alleged exploitation and forced labour, but ‘the allegations were not confirmed by any of Fresco’s employees’, the Minister of Labour said on 9 February. [Read more…]
