A seven-year-old child in the Russian Republic of Ingushetia might lose her arm in a notorious case of domestic violence that shook the republic.
Several social workers have been attacked at their offices in in Tbilisi’s Gldani District by members of a family they recently took children from.
A criminal case has been opened in Chechnya against a local woman for child abuse. According to the investigation, the woman from the village of Beno-Yurt in Nadterechny District worked as a nanny and repeatedly beat a one and a half year old child in her care. She told the child’s mother that her daughter had bruises and abrasions on her body because she stumbled and fell.
Cases of child abuse are on the rise in Chechnya. Children are the victims of unprovoked aggression and violence from adults. Psychologists explain this is a society-wide post-war syndrome.
