Azerbaijani police have detained the founder and director of Kanal 11, the third independent media outlet to be targetted in the past month. Teymur Karimov was remanded to four months of pre-trial detention on charges of extortion. Kanal 13 anchor imprisoned by Baku court for ‘disobeying police’

An anchor at the independent online Azerbaijani TV channel, Kanal 13, has been sentenced to 30 days of administrative arrest, a week after the channel’s founder was arrested. Azerbaijan arrests founder of Kanal 13 a week after AbzasMedia raid

Azerbaijani police have arrested the founder and director of the independent online TV channel Kanal 13, a week after the authorities raided the offices of AbzasMedia and arrested its management. Aziz Orujov was detained in Baku on Monday. On Tuesday, a court remanded him into three months of pre-trial detention on charges of building a house without a permit.
