The Chair and Deputy Chair of TBC Bank Group PLC, which owns one of Georgia's largest banks, TBC, have resigned. The resignations followed a demand from the Georgian National Bank a week ago that they go, due to an ongoing investigation into possible money laundering.
The National Bank of Georgia has ordered the shareholders of TBC Bank Group PLC, which owns their namesake Georgian bank, to remove their Chair, Mamuka Khazaradze, and Deputy Chair, Badri Japaridze, from their board within two months. The National Bank also revoked the signature authority of both.

In February 2017, Georgian trade unions and left-leaning activists and civil society groups organised large rallies in Rustavi and Tbilisi to support employees of the Azoti plant that were laid off without notice. Reportedly, the Bank of Georgia took over Azoti, which is the largest nitrogen manufacturing plant in Georgia, and dismissed three-hundred-and-fifty workers with no prior warning.
