Davit Gogoberishvili had resigned after Giorgi Bachiashvili, a critic of Bidzina Ivanishvili, was beaten in his cell at the prison he oversaw.

The imprisoned businessperson described the process as a retaliation against him.

The accounts were frozen as part of a legal battle between Ivanishvili and Bachiashvili.

Giorgi Bachiashvili has been in prison since May.
