On 5 June, Head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov ordered that the authorities not help Ingush officials to repair their houses, many of which have recently been affected by heavy rainfall and hail. The decision will be in effect until all affected houses belonging to economically disadvantaged people are repaired, he claims.

Yevkurov’s announcement was made during a meeting with the heads of Ingush departments and ministries.

‘I forbid you to provide material assistance to officials, who are able to cope with their problems, while there are poor families with low incomes, no connections, no official positions, and no financial possibilities’, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said.

Deputy Prime Minister Zaudin Dourbekov was tasked with implementing the order.

On 31 May, heavy rain and hail hit much of Ingushetia. Areas in Nazran District, the City of Nazran, Sunzha District, and the City of Karabulak suffered the worst damage. According to preliminary reports, about 1,000 hectares of agricultural land and personal farm plots were affected.
