The ruling Georgian Dream party’s parliamentary leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze, has suggested that the West deliberately bankrupted Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse in order to apply pressure on party founder and billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili. Leaders of Georgia’s ruling party have lept to the defence of party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili over a new legal dispute with Credit Suisse, claiming that alleged pressure on Ivanishvili could be part of an international conspiracy to involve Georgia in the war in Ukraine. On Friday, Cision, a PR firm reportedly hired by Ivanishvili, reported that the former Georgian prime minister was filing a lawsuit against Credit Suisse for holding back funds from a trust held he holds.
