The controversial statement came as Armenia–Russia ties seem to go through another round of crisis.
Armenia and Azerbaijan failed to sign the peace treaty after ostensibly agreeing to the text on 13 March.
While Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended in-person, the Armenian Army is not taking part in the parade.
On Thursday, Armenia reported that another civilian object was damaged as a result of Azerbaijani fire.
Pashinyan, in turn, suggested that if they went by media reports, 70% of the opposition would end up in prison.
