The statement was made during an anti-Karekin II rally in Yerevan during Armenian Christmas.

Pashinyan, together with a group of High-ranking clergy members formed a council for the reforms of the Armenian church.

Civil Contract–affiliated media published Armenian Security Service confirmation that Karekin II’s brother maintains ties with foreign intelligence services.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also suggested adding Armenian flags at the entrance or inside church buildings.

Archbishop Khachatryan is accused of arranging the placement of drugs on a demonstrator at a 2018 protest against Catholicos Karekin II.

The majority of the priests who signed the statement had met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan last week.
