Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan had been arrested in June 2025 for calling for the seizure of state power and other related offences.
Armenian authorities have vowed to appeal the decision and claimed that Samvel Karapetyan’s pre-trial detention is legal.
The court’s decision is reportedly subject to mandatory execution.
The Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) is run by detained Russian–Armenian tycoon Samvel Karapetyan’s Tashir Group.
The detained billionaire has been charged with money laundering through several companies.
Karapetyan has been jailed on charges of making calls for the overthrow of the government.
