US officials criticise Georgian Dream, call for sanctions against Ivanishvili
A number of US representatives and senators took to X last night to criticise the actions of Georgian Dream, call for sanctions against Georgian Dream’s founder and honorary chair Bidzina Ivanishvili, as well as other government officials, and show support for the protest movement.
Why did Georgia’s dictator-in-waiting Bidzina Ivanishvili give a contract to build the Anaklia Deep Sea Port to a sanctioned Chinese company? 🤔 🤔

For 4wks, the Georgian people have opposed their gov't’s lead down a dangerous path. #Georgia’s dream is to join the transatlantic community, the gov’t should honor that. I applaud the people’s perseverance & commitment to a brighter future – despite hardships they've endured.

I agree with @RepJoeWilson But it needs to be part of a strategy for the greater Black Sea region. Georgia is not an island. It is the portal between Europe and Eurasia. We need a strategy that achieves our aims for the region, that includes Ukraine, TUR, MVA, ROM and BGR. https://t.co/iVeB4efi2o
