Russia’s Foreign Ministry again bashes Armenia’s EU aspirations
Russia’s Foreign Ministry warned Armenia of ‘potential negative consequences’ of what they called a ‘forced rapprochement with Brussels’.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry warned Armenia of ‘potential negative consequences’ of what they called a ‘forced rapprochement with Brussels’.

The statement came after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia ‘unequivocally and without question’ wants to become an EU member state.

The Armenian Prime Minister also said that the country's Eurasian Economic Union Membership was not at risk for the time being.

Earlier in 2025, Hungary had blocked the dispersal of non-lethal defence aid to Armenia under the bloc’s European Peace Facility programme.

Armenian officials have been vocal about hybrid threats ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has pushed back against the Azerbaijani accusations regarding ‘harmful provisions’.

The declaration suggests the sides intend to cooperate on a number of areas, including economics and trade.
