On 8 March, International Women’s Day, dozens of Georgian women took to the streets of Tbilisi to protest against sexual violence and to demand proper labour conditions for women.

‘A short skirt doesn’t stand for an invitation’, ‘forced marriage is a crime’, ‘sex without consent is a crime’, — these are just some of the messages women’s rights activists put on banners to make their voices heard.

The demonstration against sexual violence was organised by two feminist groups, Women’s Movement and the Independent Group of Feminists, who hold protest demonstrations every year on 8 March.
