On 16 July, 16-year-old Giorgi Beshkenadze plunged to his death at a construction site in Tbilisi. He is one of more than 400 workers in Georgia who have died in work-related accidents since 2011. We try to understand why.
Dato has worked as a journalist for over six years. Before joining the OC Media team he wrote for Liberali Magazine. He’s interested in human rights, with a focus on minority rights and Georgia’s EU integration process. He’s also into illustrations and motion graphics and is always looking for ways to apply his multimedia skills to video journalism.
Let’s be honest, the media situation in the Caucasus is grim. Every day we are accused of ‘serving the enemy’ whoever that enemy may be. Our journalists have been harassed, arrested, beaten, and exiled. But nevertheless, we persevere. For us this is a labour of love. Unfortunately, we cannot run OC Media on love alone, journalism is expensive and funding is scarce. Our sole mission is to serve the interests of all peoples of the region. Support us today and join us in the fight for a better Caucasus.
